Examine Only good for firewood now/This tree has been long dead.

Dead trees are trees that act as interactive scenery. They have a different look than normal trees, though act the same. Some at Draynor Manor attack unexpected players if you walk up beside them, with up to 3 damage, but if you look closely, after doing Animal Magnetism, they are called Undead trees. These trees have their animations updated on 17 September, 2009, which grants the ability to make trees "watch" people moving. They require level 1 Woodcutting to cut and give normal logs. Undead trees can be cut with a mithril hatchet that is blessed. Unlike normal trees their examine reveals that they are "only good for firewood now", but you also may make some planks of it and quests that asks for logs such as tree gnome village also will accept these.

Dead trees can also be found in high level Wilderness, but give charcoal instead of logs.

Dead trees covered in snow can be found in The North yield logs as well.
