David Banks (born 24th September 1951) is a stage and television actor and occasional writer and producer. He is best known to Doctor Who fans for his portrayal of the Cyber-Leader in Earthshock, The Five Doctors, Attack of the Cybermen, and Silver Nemesis. Banks also played Karl and, briefly, the Doctor in the Doctor Who: The Ultimate Adventure stage production, after taking over the latter role from Jon Pertwee at short notice. He also wrote the Iceberg, a New Adventures novel featuring the Cybermen and the part non-fiction, part in universe biography book Doctor Who: Cybermen. He has also produced a number of audio tapes including: The Archive Tapes (narrated by Banks himself), The Ultimate Interview (with Colin Baker), Pertwee in Person (with Jon Pertwee), and Who's the real McCoy?[1].
