A knife was a bladed mêlée weapon used by many humanoid races and cultures. Because of their effectiveness compared to other blunt hand-held weapons, knife weapons are usually common in cultures that have developed the ability to work metal, and often remain in use even after projectile weapons are developed.
Even before the development of metal, many primitive cultures were known to craft knives from stone. The phrase "stone knives and bearskins" was used by Spock to describe the technology available in the 1930s era. The phrase describing primitive artifacts was fresh in James T. Kirk's mind when he found a aged sheaf of old-style letters from his father after returning to Earth shortly after the time travel to the 1930s. (TOS episode: "The City on the Edge of Forever"; TOS novel: Final Frontier)
The Romulans were fond of using knives. (TOS novel: The Romulan Way)

Dagger may refer to:
Contents |
The Dagger is a melee weapon for the Assassin profession.
Daggers always come in pairs. You cannot wield a dagger in one hand while holding a shield or focus in the other hand. The Guild Wars game mechanics treat a pair of daggers like a single two-handed weapon (similar to a bow, hammer, scythe or a staff).
The Assassin's Dagger Mastery attribute improves damage dealt by daggers and linked skills, and is often a requirement for this weapon type. Equipping a pair of daggers is required to perform dagger attack skills.
Dagger attack skills must be performed in a certain order: typically, Lead Attack → Off-Hand Attack → Dual Attack. However, there are some exceptions. See Assassin and Assassin attack chain quick reference for details.
The Dagger throwing skills in the Deadly Arts attribute do not require Daggers to be equipped.
Daggers can be upgraded with dagger tangs (name prefix) and/or dagger handles (name suffix) to add extra bonuses to the weapon. Inscriptions may also be applied.
Zealous and vampiric tangs are some of the most sought after for their benefits during combat situations. Paired with a dagger's rapid attack speed, this can give an assassin a considerable energy or health surplus. Whenever the character is not fighting these weapons should be swapped for another set to prevent them depleting energy or health reserves.

Knives occur frequently on Lost. Below is a list of significant appearances. Most notable is Locke's knife collection, and its introduction in the episode "Walkabout". As yet, it is unknown how Locke acquired his knife throwing skills and why he had so many knives with him if he was only going on a walkabout tour in an wheelchair.
One of these knives are also featured in the extra featurette "Terry O'Quinn: Throwing from the Handle" on Disc 7 of the Lost: The Complete Third Season (DVD).

Daggers are small, fast weapons that can be used in combat. One of their greatest abilities is the speed with which one may use them to attack. The dagger is primarily a stabbing weapon, but a slashing attack style is also available. Interestingly, daggers are the only metal weapons that have a positive magic attack bonus.
Members have an advantage with daggers in that they can be poisoned. With poison on their dagger, a player can reduce the opponents Hitpoints quickly whilst poisoning them, reducing their hitpoints even more.

Dagger was a Hoojib and Chief Captain of the 9th Special Forces Devision in the Wolf Star Coalition. He was also allies to Echon Kenobi and Silas Skirata during the Conquest of the Death Watch. He helped develop and proposed Matter Depression Technology to the WSC.
Contents |
Not much in known about Dagger's life before the WSC, but when he was of age he joined. He became known for his skills not only of stealth but of his ability to steal and disable enemy technology. He quickly rose through the ranks and became an Elite Lieutenant. Directly under the command of the Council of Elders. He was quickly promoted again up to Chief Captain, due to his assistance developing MC Technology, and assembled the 9th Special Forces Operational Detachment which he codenamed "Echo".
A special task force developed to test MC Technology weapons created in Project "Aurora" Their field testing was done mainly prior to the DW Revival. Their exploits are largely unknown at this time.
As a the commander of the 9th Special Forces team he was assigned to oversee the development of, and if necessary destroy, a prototype hyperdrive that had developed the interest of the Imperial Remnant. The Location was on Entrench Station orbiting around Sluis Van. When the space station was attacked by a combined fleet of Remnant and Death Watch forces it became apparent that he had to follow the investigation and determine the goals of this combined threat. He, Cloak, and a group he had fought with on the station set out on their new mission.
Like all Hoojib's, Dagger had the ability to telepathically communicate with other sentient species. He also possessed the ability to partially perceive the thought processes of lower-order non-sentient species and have partial control of their actions. Along with the Hoojib's ability to absorb large amounts of energy and even rumored the life-force of living things, he was contacted at the age of 12 by the Wolf Star Coalition. It was there where he met a young kleptomaniac and Scientist by the name of Cloak. The two quickly became friends.
Dagger was known for his cool mind even in desperate situations and matter-of-fact tone when in danger. Dagger's ability to consume energy is actually a way he eats and is able to absorb the energy of a weapon as if it were food. He also is able to use that energy to amplify his thoughts over long distances and transfer the energy into any nearby object, be it living or machine. Though he preferred solitude he found friends in Sheath and Cloak. Though other acuaintances developed during his campaign to disable the Death Watch, these were secondary in importance to his mission.
The whole joke behind their names is quite obvious "Cloak" and "Dagger", representing their position in Shadow Ops. Along with Dagger's love interest "Sheath".
