Soldier of the Republic

At some point shortly after the Battle of Geonosis, in the year 22 BBY,[1] Cut's gunship was shot down over the planet Saleucami by Separatist ships. He and several of his fellow troops survived the crash but were attacked on the ground by battle droids. During the ensuing battle, all but Cut were killed. Not willing to die in vain for a cause he did not believe in, Cut fled for his life.[2]

Life on Saleucami

Cut and his wife, Suu
"I know you think I'm a coward, Rex. But believe me, I'll fight to my last breath to keep them safe."
―Cut, to Rex — (audio)Listen (file info)

Following his escape from the droids, Cut became a farmer on Saleucami and tended the fields of his farm in the planet's wetlands. He eventually met and married a Twi'lek female by the name of Suu, and either from her or from his own choosing, adopted the surname Lawquane, along with Suu's two Twi'lek children: a boy, Jekk, and a girl, Shaeeah.[2][3]

Cut helped Captain Rex recover from a near fatal blaster shot to the chest when the latter was on Saleucami searching for General Grievous. When the two clones met, Rex planned on turning Cut in for deserting the clone army, but Lawquane explained his story to Rex. During that short period, the two worked to protect Cut's family, his home, and themselves from twenty attacking battle droid commandos. After the droids were destroyed, Rex decided not to turn Lawquane in and left his farm in peace.

Behind the scenes

Like all other clones in the series, Cut was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.
