A cryosatellite is an orbital platform storing cryogenic chambers for extremely ill or deceased people, hoping to be revived one day when medical science has a cure for their condition.
After the Eugenics Wars, several dozen cryosatellites were sent into Earth's orbit. Some of these cryosatellites became displaced in time/space when they encountered the time anomaly left by the USS Voyager's visit in 1996. The displacement caused some cryosatellites to be peppered throughout the galaxy, with the result of the United Federation of Planets finding cryosatellites over a 30-year span. Noel Turner, Scott Fack, John Sill, and Anne Cobry were some of the survivors revived from cryosatellites of Earth's past. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles; Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions)
