From Muppet Wiki

Grover meets a cricket in a segment of "Global Grover" first aired in a 2006 episode of Sesame Street.

In the segment, Grover says that he visited England, where he saw people play cricket. The cricket appears, and exclaims "Cricket!" to Grover's dismay.

After the film segment, Grover asks the cricket whether the film clarified what he was talking about. The cricket replies, in a Cockney accent, that "of course" he knew, as he loves the game. He acts as bowler, but frustrates Grover by repeatedly calling him "guv'nor". Grover replies, "I have not even held public office!"

Cricket is a bat-and-ball sport originating on the planet Earth.

Cricket is played with a wooden bat and hard red ball, on a large grassy oval. Batsmen wear distinctive padded leg guards.

History

Originating in pre-industrial England, the game spread to most of that planet during Earth's pre-space-flight period. By the 21st century, cricket was the most popular game in regions like South Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and second only to soccer planet-wide.

The sport's origins saw it considered as a gentleman's game, where fairplay was a key aspect to the nature of the game. This gave rise to the saying "It's just not cricket", when referring to acts or events that are unjust or unfair.

By the 23rd century diplomatic exchanges has spread cricket to other Federation worlds—there are Andorian and Carnelian players on the team of the USS Mumbai. Cricketers practise their skills in cricket nets erected in spare cargo bays. (TOSS # 6: "Nets")

Overview

Cricket, as seen at the Halloween Event party on October 31, 2006

Cricket is the forum name of the Associate Community Coordinator for City of Heroes and City of Villains until January 31, 2007. Prior to her promotion to the position, Cricket was a NCsoft Game Master known as GM_Bayla. Cricket was the de facto Community Coordinator in the period of time between CuppaJo's acceptance of the Community Representative for Tabula Rasa and the hire and training of Lighthouse as the Community Relations Manager to replace CuppaJo.

Cricket has been known to appear online and in-game as a level 50 Natural energy/energy Brute by the name of NCsoft_Cricket. She is currently not associated with any supergroup.

Cricket was the first known character to appear in-game with wings, a costume option that was implemented in Issue 8, at a party held on the test server on Halloween night, October 31, 2006. As she explained in a post on the official City of Heroes forums, the developers enabled wings on her character while she was vising Cryptic Studios just before the event.

Departure

On Friday, January 19, 2007, Cricket announced that she would be leaving her position as Community Coordinator for City of Heroes, but remaining with NCsoft to work with the Auto Assault, Exteel, Dungeon Runners and/or Lineage communities.[1]

Unfortunately, due to problems with the training room (test server), Cricket's going away bash on the 30th of January was at first pushed back to the 31st, then later canceled as the problems persisted.

Cricket was succeeded as Community Coordinator of City of Heroes and City of Villains by Ex Libris.
