The Cosmic altar is found in the south of Zanaris near the Tanglefoot Lair. Players may enter it by using a cosmic talisman or a cosmic tiara on the ruins after completing the Lost City quest. With a high Agility level, there are some shortcuts that can be taken at 46 and 66 to shorten the distance between the ruins and the bank. These shortcuts entail passing a damaged wall that will cause damage if failed. Once inside, players may cross an invisible bridge in space to create Cosmic runes.
Spheres fly past the Cosmic altar to add ethereal feel to the temple's mysterious surroundings.
It may also be accessed via the Abyss. If one has Level 50 Runecrafting, one can also purchase a Cosmic altar teleport.

The colour of the Cosmic altar changed in the latter half of 2009 (November), to marble coloured stones and a purple vein.
There was once a glitch to where a player could bypass the walls and walk straight into the darkness of the cosmic altar.
