"Looks like you left your manners on Coral!"
Gy. Sgt Eddie Buck to a dead Kig Yar he had just shot.

Coral is a Human occupied colony in a system 42 light-years from Earth.[1]

At an unknown date, a Coral mining operation uncovered the tip of a Forerunner installation. The miners used explosives to excavate a depth of 30 meters, uncovering the undamaged tip of the installation. Archaeologists in the employ of ONI were able to dig out about eighty meters of the complex, which seems to be even more expansive. The complex has been described as made from metallic crystal, symmetrical to a near-atomic scale, and adorned with decorative artistic motifs.[2]

In late September of 2552, it was reported that Coral had been glassed by the Covenant. The fate of the Forerunner installation remains unknown.[3]

Trivia

An artist's impression of what may be Coral in the HD 40307 system.
  • Coral possibly orbits the star HD 40307, which is known to possess three large "Super-Earth" planets.[citation needed]
  • The Halo novel Ghosts of Onyx had a working title of "Ghosts of Coral". This led to a great deal of speculation about Coral and its background. However, it turned out to be unrelated.
  • Coral is the home planet of Kamal Zaman and Sophia Bossedon in the I Love Bees saga.
  • The only known residents of Coral, Kamal and Sophia, speak about their families forbidding them to eat pork. In addition Kamal's surname (Zaman) is common in peoples of Muslim descent. Therefore it is quite possible that Coral has a significant (perhaps even a majority) Muslim population.

Eaten plain or used in a sauce or Compound Butter, coral is simply the Roe (eggs) of a Crustacean such as lobster or scallop. When cooked, it turns a beautiful coral-red color.

This article is about the YT-1300. You may be looking for yorik coral, the category of sea animals, or the starship Coral Vanda.

Coral was an YT-1300 used Grand Admiral Zaarin, it was part of an attempt to loot ZA-13. It was carrying TIE Avenger parts. However it was disabled by Tan Maarek Stele, then boarded by Imperial boarding parties to recover the cargo, before being destroyed.

Behind the scenes

  • The ship was called Z-Coral to remind the player it belonged to Zaarin.

Star Wars Fanon

The Star Wars wiki of fan invention.

Commander CC-0733 ("Coral"), senior commander of the 24th Airborne Brigade ("Shock Rifles").
CC-0733, colloquially known by the callsign of "Coral", was a senior advanced reconnaissance commando who would serve as a clone trooper commander / clone regimental commander and the commander of the 24th Airborne Brigade ("Shock Rifles").

While in the embattled, bitter years of the Clone Wars, many clone commanders underwent specialized ARC special-operator training to augment their leadership, Commander Coral was a highly unusual case. During initial imprinting and exercises on Kamino, Coral was recognized as an exceptional commando with both substantial tremendous personal initiative and skill as well as an endogenous leadership that rallied many other clones during combined-formations exercises. Thus, Coral was experimentally promoted to the rank of clone trooper commander and installed as the commander of the novel and newly-activated 24th Airborne Brigade ("Shock Rifles"), the first shock corps designated by the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), where it was intended that both his individual and leadership core skills would make him both an effective commander and warfighter that would inspire his men.

Installed as the commander of the 24th Airborne Brigade, Coral would lead the "Shock Rifles" from caustic warzone to depraved stronghold, and though his forces would suffer substantial casualties in their invariably brutalizing deployments, his commando background and forceful personality would allow the Shock Rifles to forge unexpected Republic victories as Commander Coral led the 24th Airborne through its intense deployments from its initial battles on the arid world of Geonosis to its final Clone Wars deployment in 20 BBY to the jungle world of Tiss'sharl.

Trivia

  • CC-0733's pay grade rank is formally clone regimental commander; because he is a senior commander of a brigade and a highly experienced field officer, it would normally be expected that he would hold rank of senior clone commander. CC-0733's artificially-downgraded rank is resultant of the fact that he was not formally trained as a clone commander, and that his military occupational specialty (MOS) instead was that of an ARC special-operator. Despite his phenomenal successes, in the rule-entrapped Republic Special Operations Command, this has shed a darker light on him by many bureaucratic senior officers, which have forestalled his appropriate promotion.
