Contemplanys Hermi was an ancient clause in the Galactic Constitution. The phrase meant "meditative solitude" in Olys Corellisi.

The clause was included in recognition of Corellia's fairly unique cultural, economic and political circumstances. When enacted, Corellia and the Corellian system formally withdrew from the Galactic Republic Senate and relinquished its veto power for the duration of the period. Only the Corellian system could secede, the Outlier systems were not permitted such. Since acting as a founding member of the Galactic Republic, Corellia only enacted the clause twice: once in 475 BBY during a bid at independence and again on 3:14 in 22 BBY before the Clone Wars.

In addition to the political isolation, Contemplanys Hermi offered Corellia a chance to seal the Corellian system and worlds. System transit was limited to native and naturalized citizens, all off-duty and reserve CorSec personnel were activated, and only Corellian Merchants' Guild transports were permitted to transport cargoes into the system. Non-Corellian businesses based in the sector were allowed to continue operating, as long as they would abide by the travel and shipping restrictions imposed; typically, this required the business to purchase membership in the Corellian Merchants' Guild.

Due to the illegal nature of the First and Second Corellian Insurrections, it can be speculated that Contemplanys Hermi did not survive into the New Republic and Galactic Alliance Common Charters.
