Cleave is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. Cleave is typically some sort of strong physical attack. It has been both an ability for the party, and an attack used by enemies.

Final Fantasy V

Cleaver is the SNES name of the Tonberry's Knife attack. It does Defense-ignoring physical damage and inflicts Sap status on a single target.

Final Fantasy VI

Cleave is the original name for Oblivion in the North American Super NES release. It is Cyan's ultimate Bushido technique, and can instantly kill all enemies.

Cleave is also the Super NES name of the Tonberry's Knife attack. It does massive physical damage to a party member.

Final Fantasy IX

Cleave is an ability that inflicts heavy physical damage to all opposing targets. Both Hades and the Iron Men can use the ability.

Final Fantasy X

Mortiorchis uses Cross Cleave when the party fights Seymour Flux. It does heavy physical damage to the party.

Final Fantasy XI

Spinal Cleave and Vertical Cleave are Blue Magic spells.
