Clarence Charles Batson was an archaelogist and the husband of Marilyn Batson. The Batsons were working on a dig in
Egypt on behalf of industrialist
Thaddeus Sivana, Sr. Sivana's enforcer,
Theo Adam, accompanied the Batsons on the dig, but when Theo was taken over by the spirit of the ancient warrior
Black Adam, he betrayed the Batsons and murdered them.

By and large, C.C. Batson does not possess any superhuman capabilities, but thanks to the
Power of Shazam, his spirit has returned from the afterworld and has occasionally made contact with his son, Billy. It was the ghost of C.C. Batson that first led Billy to the underground tunnel, and thusly, to the
Rock of Eternity.
