A case full of Starfleet charges

A charge was a type of explosive weapon. Numerous types of charges existed for a variety of applications - from small scale damage to ship-to-ship confrontations.

In 2370 an away team from the USS Enterprise-D was armed with cases of charges to be put in place to destroy a complex utilised by a conspiracy within Starfleet. The team put the charges in place, but when the time came to detonate them found they had no effect as the conspirators had been able to disarm them moments after they had been set.   • Charge! is commonly used by runners. It is also especially useful for characters who use stances, such as Balanced Stance, as the speed boost is retained while using the stance.
  • Two players alternating Charge! can keep the party under an unremovable speed boost all of the time, allowing for a significant position advantage. In PvP, this can help team members kite, counter kiting, or move around the larger maps. In PvE, this is useful for avoiding aggroing monsters, and moving the entire party quickly from one fight to the next.

Charge is a members-only spell that temporarily (for 7 minutes) increases the maximum damage of the three god spells (Flames of Zamorak, Claws of Guthix, and Saradomin Strike) by 10. Charge can be cast anytime, but the user must be wielding a god staff (or Void Knight Mace for Claws of Guthix) and its corresponding god cape to cast a god spell. (Any god cape will work for the Void Knight Mace.) The spell can be cast every minute (i.e. 60 seconds after each other).

When activated, the message "You feel charged with magic power" appears in the chat box. When the spell has expired, the message "Your magical charge fades away" appears. This spell cannot be recast whilst the charge is in effect.

Charge costs 975 coins per cast.
Remember, You cannot use Ancient Magicks or Lunar Magicks if you are using regular Magic.

Trivia

  • The Charge spell used to be the fastest way to train the Magic skill. Players simply had to click on the spell as fast as they could and watch their experience increase at an extremely fast rate. This was later changed and now players have to wait a few minutes before they can use the spell again.
  • Even before the introduction of the extreme magic potion the Wise Old Man has been known to hit 40s with the Saradomin Strike spell in spite of the fact that players could only hit a maximum of 30 (33 with a staff that provides a 10% increase in magic damage) with the Charge spell.
  • Before icons of the spells in the normal spellbook had their appearance updated, it could be noted that the white symbol in the charge spell symbol was the same shape and colour of the Iban Blast spell symbol.
  • To get from level 80 magic to level 99, a player would need to cast charge 61,380 times and at 1227 coins per cast that comes to a total of 75,313,260 coins. This price is reduced to 72,735,300 coins if an air staff is used.
