History

The entity known as the Centre was born on primordial Earth and has been living for millions of years, watching life. When an asteroid that came and wiped out all of prehistoric life, the Centre quickly rescued all that survived and relocated them and itself in what it is to be the Pacific Ocean, where it forms itself as an island to support its wildlife. There the Centre kept watching the world even through the Ice Age and witness a new life form: humans. For the next millennium, the Centre witnessed humankind growing more adapted to its environment, including on violence which concerns the being. By the mid-20th century, the Centre saw the detonation of the hydrogen bomb which it then finally decided that mankind poses a threat to its world and plans to leave Earth, but not before destroying the human "vermins" off the planet.[1]

The Centre began sending its own mutated flying dinosaurs to scout around the world for natural resources that could fuel the being to leave Earth. Some of these dinosaurs came into conflict with humans, including Task Force X's debacle with a pterodactyl above the Statue of Liberty in New York City.[2] As a matter of fact, the American government was aware of the existence of Dinosaur Island, the Centre's disguised natural form, as it was previously explored by humans before in the past (such as the ill-fated Losers) but were unacknowledged of its true and hidden form. The Centre also shed its (violent) mental influence upon the world, in which many people became subjected to madness and even creating doomsday cults for the being.[3] Finally in 1958, one of its saurian agents discovered vast jet fuels at Florida's Cape Canaveral, where the Centre decided to head there and making its appearance known to the world. On the way, the Centre attacked Paradise Island as it was passing through. The Centre proved too strong and invulnerable to American military attacks once it was along Florida's coast, as it easily destroy the nation's sea and air defenses, and even defeating Superman. However, Earth's heroes and military forces planned a well-laid assault on the Centre in which they damaged the being after pilots Hal Jordan, Ace Morgan, and Nathaniel Adam detonated nuclear warheads within it, and the Flash took the advantage to destabilize the being with Ray Palmer's shrink ray. Though it was going to die, the Centre attempted to take out every being on the mainland, but was captured by the power of the Green Lantern ring of Green Lantern Hal Jordan, who he then takes it into orbit and flung it across space and away from Earth, in which it then exploded.
