The Ankheg, also known as the Centipede or simply the Pede, is an enemy in the original Final Fantasy. Its attacks cause Poison. As they don't have elemental weaknesses, physical blows are the way to go. However, they have only 222 HP, so, it's easier to just attack with your entire party than to heal/use magic. They are found around Crescent Lake, as well as the second basement of the Gurgu Volcano, outside of the big room. As many of their palette swaps, they appear in groups from one to four. If that happens, be aware of your health points, because you may be killed without noticing it. It is quite rare however; it doesn't appear too often like other monsters. They are named after a classic monster in Dungeons and Dragons.
