The capital of a planet or territory was usually the primary city and was the seat of that planet or territory's government. However, the capital would not always be the largest city of that area.
Capital could also refer to the primary planet in a system and to an extension, the whole sector. Usually a capital planet of a sector was simply the oldest (and most known or advanced) inhabited planet.
It was a usual custom in the galaxy to name Sectors and Systems after their capital planet. For example Corellia > Corellia system > Corellian Sector.

The Capitol building is located in a planet's capital city, often in the center of town. The structure holds little use, other than providing a location for NPC's. Politician trainers are only located at the Capitol buildings, so they are important for players running a Player City.

Central world of the Imperium and seat of government since its founding. Situated in the center of the Imperium, Capital's astrographical position has proven of prime importance as a communications hub, a cultural center, and an industrial focus. Captial is home to the Imperial Guard, Imperial Palace, Moot, and the Moot Spire.
Prior to the founding of the Third Imperium, this world was named Sylea, and was home to the Syleans, a minor human race.
The planet is a pleasant world, 7,600km in diameter and with a surface gravity of approximately 0.7G. The atmosphere is a dense mixture of oxygen and nitrogen. Three fifths of the planetary surface is covered by water oceans, with five major continents and a number of large islands and archipelagos.
Fourteen billion sentients inhabit Capital, a number which has remained fairly constant through the entire Third Imperium. Of these, eighty percent are primarily racial Vilani, eleven percent are Solomani and six percent are native Slyeans, and the remaining three percent consists of a mixture of various human and non-human minor races.
Under the divided Imperium, with no emperor officially proclaimed by action of the Moot, Capital is a head without a brain, and the separate domains of the Imperium have been forced to fend for themselves under the independent leadership of their local archdukes. Once the current political turmoil has settled down and the Imperium is reunited, Capital will again take its place as the centerpiece of human civilization.
