Purpose

Capes are the universal symbol of an allegiance to a guild. Each Guild can create a unique look for their cape by customizing the user-defined symbol, colors, detail and cape trim. This symbol also adorns the Guild Menu pop-up window, as well as serving as your Guild's symbol in alliance listings.

Wearing a cape

Guild capes are purely cosmetic and will not grant wearers bonuses or advantages, it is just an indication of which guild you belong to.

Ways to acquire a cape:

• Join a pre-existing Guild that has already purchased a cape.
• If you are the leader of a Guild, purchase a cape from the Guild Emblemer.

Displaying a cape

On the inventory window there is a drop down menu next to a checkered cape image that will let you select from one of the following options:

• Always Show
• Hide in Towns and Outposts
• Hide in Combat Areas (Except PvP)
• Always Hide (Except PvP)

Cape customization

Capes are customized by going to the Guild Emblemer. Capes can be designed by any member or officer but can only be changed by the guild leader. Designing a cape is free, but each time the cape is changed/created, it will cost 2 .

Cape detail

The details of a cape is the pattern which lies underneath the emblem. There are 32 possible details from which to choose. Selecting the detail check box in the Guild Emblemer tool box, clicking on the two single arrows beneath the preview of your character's cape will change the detail pattern. Clicking on the colors or adjusting its brightness with the slider beneath the color tool will preview the cape with that color.

Emblem

An emblem is the symbol of your guild. There are 174 (173 if you don't count the blank one) possible emblems from which to choose. Selecting the emblem check box in the Guild Emblemer tool box and clicking on any of the emblems at the bottom of the screen will show you how it will look on your cape. Clicking on the colors or adjusting its brightness with the slider beneath the color tool will preview the cape with that color. With each new campaign of Guild Wars, there are contests held to determine new guild emblems that will be available upon release.

Cape trim

The cape trim is the outer edge of the cape, the type of trim can be changed but the color can only be changed through special events. There are 9 possible trim designs from which to choose. The two double arrows in the background color check box allow you to change the trims design of your cape.

Cape trims (gold, silver or bronze) are awarded to Guilds that place well in worldwide Guild Battle (GvG) tournaments or championships. Four such championships have occurred:

• GWWC
• GWFC
• Winterfest 2006 Tournament
• Celestial Tournament

Position color:

• The winning players of a season ladder, GvG championship or monthly automated tournament will have their fringe changed to gold permanently.

Cape Colours

Below is a list of normal cape colours and how to obtain them. White dye cannot be used on capes. Some capes offer certain combat bonuses.

Cape	Components	Notes
Pink	Pink dye, which is obtainable from Betty in Port Sarim for 20 coins after a player completes The Hand in the Sand.	A members-only item. The dye is initially used in The Hand in the Sand to make a truth serum. It is made by using redberries and white berries on bottled water.
Red	Red dye, which requires 3 redberries and 5 coins.	Can also be obtained from Thessalia's Fine Clothes in Varrock or as a very rare drop from a Goblin.
Orange	Orange dye, a mixture of red and yellow dye.
Yellow	Yellow dye, which requires 2 onions and 5 coins.
Green	Green dye, a mixture of blue and yellow dye.
Blue	Blue dye, which requires 2 woad leaves and 5 coins.	Can also be obtained from the Champions' Guild.
Purple	Purple dye, a mixture of blue and red dye.	There is a purple dye respawn to the east of the battlefield, near the Spirit tree, south of East Ardougne.
Black	Black mushroom ink, pick a black mushroom and use it with your pestle and mortar.	Can be obtained from killing a highwayman.

Capes can be dyed to another colour using dyes. Dyeing a cape gives a player 2.5 crafting experience. To make dye, a player must bring ingredients and 5 coins to Aggie in Draynor Village or Ali the Dyer in Pollnivneach, and the player will receive dye.

A cape was an item of clothing. In 22 BBY, HoloNet News ran a piece in their "Life Section" titled "Inside Fashion: Capes are Still Hot!" Lando Calrissian typically wore a cape as part of his outfit. General Grievous sometimes wore a cape as did some of his IG-100 MagnaGuard bodyguards.

Capes

From time to time, some high-ranked Cybertronians tend to wear capes. Presumably, they are a symbol of office, as only generals, commanders, and other such leaders have been seen sporting them. Exactly what material these capes are made from is unknown, but one presumes that Earth-style fabrics are likely extremely rare on Cybertron (which could make the capes even more special, considering).

• Optimus Prime and Megatron wore capes while serving as the leaders of the Cybertron Alliance. Prime's was purple (the Decepticon color), while Megatron's was red (the Autobot color). Whether this was a symbol of high office or just a desire to look pretty is unknown.

• Starscream wore a cape, large shoulder pads, and a crown at his coronation as Decepticon leader. The crown alone survived Galvatron's blast, only to be crushed under his feet.

• The Nine Great Demon Generals mostly wore capes (except Trypticon, who wore a Batman-like cowl) in the Zone story pages.

• The members of the Maximal High Council wear capes, too.

• Armada Scavenger wore a large, body-obscuring cloak when he first arrived on Earth.

• Great Convoy is a cape. Seriously.

Trenchcoats

Quite a few characters have been depicted wearing trenchcoats, mostly when involved in detective work or similarly secretive activity.

• Nightbeat has been drawn quite a few times wearing a trenchcoat and fedora, due to their connection with detective fiction. He pulls it off pretty well, actually.
• The Micromaster Air Strike Patrol wore trenchcoats and fedoras while trying to pass as human professional wrestlers. Interestingly enough, these coats somehow obscured large physical protrusions on their bodies (jet intakes, wings, etc.). The Interplanetary Wrestling Championship!

Pretenders

• Most of the Pretender toys have clothing molded onto their Pretender shells. Naturally, it's only pretend clothing, being part of the Transformers' shells (which themselves might be considered a form of clothing).
• In the TV commercial for the Pretenders, the human Pretenders can take off and reveal the muscle of the outer shells.
• In Super-God Masterforce, human Pretenders wear clothes in their everyday lives as normal humans.
• Cloudburst also wears normal clothing in Marvel Comics continuity. Recipe for Disaster!

Ponchos

• The Jointron brothers have been shown wearing ponchos and sombreros, as well as using mariachi-style guitars and maracas. This is both hilarious and racist.

• Lockdown wore a poncho when he showed up on the remains of the Nemesis in reference to the Man With No Name from the spaghetti western A Fistful of Dollars. A Fistful of Energon

Helmets, hats and masks

• Cohrada wears his father's hat in Beast Wars Neo manga.

• In Dreamwave continuity, Bumblebee wore a removable face-mask that resembled the face of his original toy. The War Within issue 6 He was later shown to have integrated a similar mask into his head proper. Skyfire (comic issue) Brawn was also shown to wear a removable face-mask that resembled his toy's face. Night of the Combaticons

• During the Dark Ages, Jetfire sported a face-mask resembling his original toy, which was later upgraded into a fully removable helmet that he wore along with detachable armor. Skyfire (comic issue) He would also wear a helmet (based on that of his Classics toy) during the events of Stormbringer.

• In "Dawn of Future's Past", Rattrap wears a a cap-like helmet.

• Bulkhead wore a beret while indulging in his artistic tendancies. He was probably trying to be like human artists though.

• Back in the dim and distant past on Cybertron, it was revealed that Megatron's "bucket-head" is in fact a helmet, presumably a hangover from his mining days. After his first kill in the deathmatches at the Forge, Megatron removed his helmet to reveal a crest of hair-like panels underneath, while the crowd cheered him on. Megatron Origin issue 2

• Later, Orion Pax was seen (in a cameo) at Bumper's funeral having removed his head/helmet as a mark of respect, along with his unnamed albino twin. Megatron Origin issue 3

• In Transformers Animated, both Bumblebee and Wasp wear helmets. Where Is Thy Sting? So does Blackarachnia. Predacons Rising

• The magic of Christmas once made Optimus Prime dress up in a festive outfit. Obviously, the big guy is a little too open to suggestion. The same holds true for Grimlock, it seems.

Sometimes, people on Earth wear clothing to look like various Transformers. Sometimes this is hot, sometimes this is sad.

• In an early plan to trap the Decepticons, the Autobots had to run around in lab coats. It was very silly. More Than Meets the Eye, Part 3

• Brawn made a seemingly metaphorical reference to footwear called proton boots.

• Grimlock is a king of fashion, at times wearing a crown, a bandana, an apron, and... err...
• The Maximal Elders wear robes. They have their reasons, and they do not concern you.
• The exo-structures of the members of Council of Ancients resemble robes. They also have their reasons.

• The Space Mini-Con Team and Armada Sureshock have disguised themselves as humans using large, heavy jackets, coats, baseball caps, hats, sunglasses, and other items of clothing to try to blend in with other people in robot mode.

• Heinrad wears his Ruler of Time and Space agent's uniform. Return to Zero

• Six-Speed's curiosity about human clothing led him to examine the closets of his human friends Bud and Coby. However, his attempt to dress like a human basically amounted to putting random articles of clothing on his limbs, looking more ridiculous than clothing-wearing Transformers normally do. Which is kinda amazing.

• Bumblebee wore a robe before his wrestling match with Colossus Rhodes. Total Meltdown
