A detailed image of the Candy cane

The Candy Cane is a reward from the 2009 Christmas event A Christmas Warble. Players can wield the Candy cane in one hand, giving them some small stat bonuses. Interestingly, the stats are similar to those of the Scythe, which was released in the 2003 Hallowe'en event. The spin emote can be performed by wielding the Candy Cane, right clicking it, and selecting 'spin' on the equipment screen.

If you lose your Candy Cane, you can get another from Diango in Draynor Village. Like all holiday items, the Candy Cane can be stored in a Toy box of a player's Player-owned house.

Its Strength bonus is same with an Iron longsword, making it a pretty much good weapon for Strength pures or new players.

Trivia

  • There was a glitch where a player can spin any weapon using the Candy cane. If the player (while wielding it) clicks "Spin" and quickly switches to another weapon, the other weapon will appear during the emote. Some weapons experience texture glitches while doing this(such as stretched weapon textures), while others do not but reveal a gap in the weapon's model where the player's hand would normally be. This has now been fixed.
  • If you spin your candy cane and quickly un-equip it, you will appear to be throwing nothing.
  • The Candy cane is one of the two wieldable holiday items that does not lower your stab, slash or crush, and has a positive strength bonus, the other being the Scythe from the 2003 Halloween event.
  • It is possible to flip the candy cane while performing an emote and leave the graphics from the emote in place while the player is spinning the cane. Some emotes this works on are: Explore, Freeze and Melt, and Around the World in Eggty Days. This glitch has now been fixed , if the player attempts to spin the candy cane while performing the emote , it would result in "You are already doing an emote!"
  • While spinning the candy cane, if you try to cut down a tree, you will start woodcutting the tree, but sideways.
A player who has obtained two Candy canes.
  • If you look to the side while attacking, you flip the cane back to you when recovering from an attack.
  • Players can get 2 candy canes by speaking to Diango in Draynor first, then opening the present.
  • In a hidden update on 22 December, the Candy Cane's emote was sped up, rendering the switch and spin glitch more difficult to accomplish. On the RuneScape official forums, Mod Edam stated that they are working on a full fix for the spin and switch glitch, but it will most likely not be released until after the Christmas event has been removed.
  • If you spin the candy cane and then to a mud pie, you appear to be doing the end of the Cooking Skillcape emote.
The 'spin' glitch.
  • If you play with Eek and then spin your candy cane, you will spin the candy cane and Eek is still playing without being helped by your hands.

City of Heroes

Up to date as of January 31, 2010
(Redirected to Candy Cane Salvage article)

From City of Heroes Wiki

Overview

The Candy Cane Salvage is obtainable by clicking on a Gamester present and receiving a "You've been Nice." message starting in the Winter Event 2007. These can be redeemed for a variety of badges, temp powers, and costume pieces from past winter events from the Candy Keeper, who is only available during the Winter Event.

Description

A festive piece of peppermint candy to celebrate the holidays. Seek the Candy Keeper in the winter chalet in Pocket D, as he collects these candy canes in return for hard to acquire treasures.

Notes

  • Even though its actually event salvage, the candy canes where placed under special salvage due to the limits on event salvage (no more than 99 of one type). Intended in design was to allow players to amass more than 100 candy canes to buy more items that would be included in following years.
