Butterfly nets are one of the many tools associated with the Hunter skill. As the name might suggest, it is wielded to capture butterflies, and in the Impetuous Impulses mini-game, implings. A player must have level 15 Hunter in order to wield the butterfly net, from which point the can be used as a "fun" weapon (though they have no bonuses other than greater speed).
Nets can be purchased at low prices from the hunter shops in Yanille and Nardah. The average price of the net is about 24 coins. They can also be found by opening a hunter kit, which can be made using the Lunar spell of the same name. In order to make use of the net, butterfly jars are also needed; they are also very cheap, about one coin, and can be purchased at the same locations.
Pure players are commonly tricked into training defence to level two by the butterfly net, as it can only train on the controlled style, meaning it will give exp points to defence.
