The Butler is a servant that players may hire once they're level 40 Construction or higher. They must have at least two bedrooms with beds in order to hire a servant from the Servants' Guild. The Butler can:

  • Welcome guests to the owner's house, lead them to the owner if the owner is in another room, or lead the guest outside.
  • Serve chocolate cake or tea to guests if the owner has a dining room with a dining table along with a kitchen that has the appropriate ingredients.
  • Take up to 20 items to and from the bank faster than the Cook but slower than the Demon Butler.
  • Take wood to the Sawmill and get them made into planks faster than the Cook but slower than the Demon Butler.
  • To hire the butler you must have at least 2 bedrooms in your house.

The Butler charges 5000 coins for his wage every 8 trips. This charge also includes serving food or drinks. Many players prefer the Butler over the Demon Butler because he is only slightly slower, yet half the cost of the Demon Butler. Also, using the Butler actually provides faster experience than the Demon Butler. A player building oak dungeon doors will find that he can build two doors in the time that the Butler is getting planks from the bank, and finish just as the Butler returns. This allows for constant experience to be gained. However, the Demon Butler is too fast for this, and players will be interrupted if they try to build two oak doors while the Demon Butler is away.

Alternative To Using The Butler

Teleport to your house using the House Teleport and return to the bank in Castle Wars using the Ring of Duelling. The price for the runes and the ring (assuming you use an air staff) is a little under 5,000 gp for 8 trips. It's faster than the butler and also gives you Magic xp! You can also reduce your costs even more by crafting your own runes and ring. Or you can use the glory in your house for teleporting to Edgeville or Draynor to bank.

Trivia

  • The Butler never pronounces the player's name. He always calls the player Sir or Madam, as he told it in the Servants' Guild.
  • The Butler never smiles but once: when the player gives him his pay.
  • He claims to be the best mortal servant any player can have since the Demon Butler isn't a mortal.
  • None of the servants ever go to the bank to collect their pay, if the 'pay from bank' option is chosen.
