On the Cruiseliner Titanic Buffalo "wings" were being served to guests as food. Foon Van Hoff commented that "these Buffalo most have lots of wings". (DW: Voyage of the Damned)
The buffalo (American Bison) was a species of animal that was once native to Earth's North American continent. It was estimated that there were once millions of buffalo that travelled in huge numbers across the continent. In the 21st century they became quite popular as livestock, but they were extinct by the 23rd century.
In 2266, Professor Robert Crater compared the M-113 creatures to the buffalo, when millions of them roamed the surface of planet M-113. (TOS novelization: "The Unreal McCoy").

The Buffalo in GTA San Andreas appears to based on the third-generation Chevrolet Camaro. Even though it is clearly based on a 1982-1992 Camaro, it has been changed quite a bit. The headlights are circular, coincidentally similar to a 1994-2001 Acura Integra; a C-pillar has been added, bearing somewhat of a resemblance to 1984–1993 Dodge Daytonas; and the shape taillights look closer to some third-generation Pontiac Firebird models. The Buffalo also has a ram air hood.
The car is front-engine, rear-drive, and sports a V8 engine that delivers great acceleration and speed, but comes at the cost of limited control at top speeds and unstable cornering. It is also a two-door vehicle, making it unsuitable for drive-bys as the player can only have one recruit to go along with him.
In GTA IV and its DLCs, the Bravado Buffalo is a four-door sports sedan based on the 2006—present Dodge Charger. When GTA IV was originally released, the game's rendition of the Buffalo had not been made available as a civilian model, despite numerous billboards advertising the car in Liberty City. Rather, the vehicle is initially depicted as a law enforcement vehicle for the Federal Investigation Bureau, dubbed the FIB Buffalo. The civilian Buffalo is featured as an added vehicle in The Ballad of Gay Tony, the second downloadable episode for GTA IV.
The law enforcement model is taken from the base model of the Police Package Charger as it is powered by a V6 engine, similar to the Police Patrol. Both variants have a stock body kit and plain black wheels with chrome centercaps. The FIB variant features 2 sets of emergency lights mounted on its grill and rear windshield whereas the LCPD variant has a front pushbar and V-lightbar on its roof, similar to its Declasse and Vapid counterparts.
The civilian model is based on the SRT-8 version of the Charger. It is powered by a high displacement V8 engine and features a performance body kit including larger exhaust ports, sport rims, bumpers, and side skirts, however the Buffalo lacks the rear spoiler and hood scoop found on the SRT-8 model.

Buffalo, is the second largest city in New York State. Located in Western New York on the eastern shores of Lake Erie and at the head of the Niagara River, Buffalo is the principal city of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area and the seat of Erie County. Originating around 1789 as a small trading community near the eponymous Buffalo Creek, Buffalo grew quickly after the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825, with the city as its terminus. By 1900, Buffalo was the 8th largest city in the country, and went on to become a major railroad hub, the largest grain-milling center in the country, and the home of the largest steel-making operation in the world. The latter part of the 20th Century saw a reversal of fortunes: by the year 2000 the city had fallen back below its 1900 population levels. The rerouting of Great Lakes shipping by the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway was a factor in the decline of the city. The closing or relocating of many of the steel mills and other heavy industries in the area also contributed to the decline. Many people continue to leave Buffalo to other, bigger cities to jet jobs.

Buffalo was Peter Rasfeld's personal modified Decimator-class Starfighter. The starfighter had enhanced engines and improved weaponry. The engines had a more powerful thrust drive. Instead of the regular Decimator top speed of 1,500 mph, Buffalo had a top speed of 3,000. It also had and better maneuverability than a regular Decimator. The weaponry was refitted with 2 heavy duty repeating blaster cannons.
He used this starfighter to attack and destroy spice convoys, transports, and patrol cruisers that would come into Red Wing territory. It was a very famous fighter, it was used to destroy an Imperial Star Destroyer by firing his blasters at a weak spot in the ship's hull. In doing this, he saved the Red Wing fleet from total destruction.
