| Examine | Bob can fix this broken ___ axe for me. |
| Weight | 2.5 kg |
The Broken axe was the result of attempting to cut an Ent. The same name was given to all 8 axes if it is broken; only the image and examine text were different. If the axe was wielded whilst it was broken, it would stay equipped until it is unequipped. It could not be re-equipped until it had been repaired in Lumbridge at Bob's Brilliant Axes shop for some coins. Players also could not cut trees with a broken axe; they must have had another axe to cut a tree.
The broken axe was removed with the removing of the Ent random event. This is now a discontinued item, and all in existence have since been automatically repaired into their normal state.
All kinds of axes could be broken, from bronze to dragon. The price of repairing an axe was higher the better the metal.
