A bow was a curved and stringed weapon that projected arrows. Kinetic energy is stored in the limbs of the bow and transformed into rapid motion when the string is released, with the string transferring this force to the arrow. Bows were used for hunting, sport, and warfare.
In 2267, Spock crafted this as a weapon to defend against Capellan attack. (TOS novelization: Friday's Child)

A violin and bow were seen together in the "Violins" episode of Elmo's World.
The violin, a male, kept making the joke, "take my bow, please," suggesting that the two are married.
The violin puppet had previously debuted as Fiddle in the video Kids' Favorite Country Songs.
Bows are a kind of weapon. They are the primary (100% damage) weapon for Cras and the secondary (95% damage) weapon for Srams.
Most Bows can be made by Bow Carvers and all can be maged by Bow Smithmagus'.

Bows (ゆみ Yumi) are a recurring group of weapons from the Final Fantasy series. They first appear in Final Fantasy II, and are used by most Archers. Sometimes Archers will wield the more powerful Crossbow instead. Bows are notable for dealing the same amount of damage regardless of the user's position in the front or back row. In certain games, such as Final Fantasy IV, arrows must be purchased in order to attack with a bow, while in others, such as Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, bows come equipped with an infinite amount of arrows. Recurring bows are: Dark Bow, Yoichi Bow, Elven Bow, Killer Bow, and the Artemis Bow, which tends to be the Ultimate weapon.
Bows first appear in Final Fantasy II and are the starting weapon of Maria. Since Maria's stats are inclined towards magic and she is better off in the back row of the battlefield, bows are a good choice of weapon to equip her with. Final Fantasy II's bows come equipped with arrows.
List of Bows:
The Ranger Job class uses bows, preferably from the back row. Unlike Final Fantasy II, arrows must be bought in towns around the World Map.

Rosa is a White Mage/Archer, and so can equip bows. Her special Aim ability lets her fire arrows with 100% accuracy. Rydia, Edward, Palom, Porom, Cecil, and Cid can also arm themselves with a bow, but without the Aim ability. Arrows must be purchased in this game, but at least in the DS version, are only spent by equipping them, not attacking.

Bows are used by the Ranger class, which can use the Aim ability to increase accuracy with arrows. The Ranger's Level 3 ability Equip Bow will let the character equip a bow regardless of job. Arrows do not need to be bought in this game.

Bows disappear for a while through the Final Fantasy numbered series until Final Fantasy XI. They can be used by a number of jobs, but the Ranger job is the only one proficient enough to use weaponskills with them.
Though there is a massive amount of bows, the most notable bows include;

Bows are the most basic of the ranged weapons in Final Fantasy XII. Their arrow shots are unblockable, but are also quite sensitive in inclement weather such as rain. Arrows must be purchased from shops in this game. Fran wields a bow as her default weapon.

Fran once again uses bows in battle, and is the only playable character who does so. She cannot choose which arrows to fire.
List of Bows:
One of the characters uses a Longbow as his weapon of choice.
Phoebe uses the only bow in the game, the Bow of Grace, as her primary weapon once she has given Benjamin the Cat Claw. It has limited ammunition and does additional, "shoot-type" damage to enemies weak to it, primarily those that fly.
The Archer uses bows, which come equipped with arrows. The Archer can use the Charge ability to build up power in a bow for a more powerful attack. Due to the battlefield geography in Final Fantasy Tactics, arrows are sensitive to obstacles and may miss if the height difference between the archer and target is too great.

Bows are weapons used by the Selkie tribe. They are the only weapon able to attack from long ranges. As Selkies level up, they gain the ability to fire more projectiles, the max being five. Their charge ability allows them to fire many arrows at once rapidly.

A Two-Handed projectile weapon that causes piercing damage, there are a variety of bows in Guild Wars. The Ranger's Marksmanship attribute improves the damage of and is generally a requirement for this weapon type. Bow Attacks can only be performed when equipped with a bow.
There are five different classes of bows, each of which has different range, attack speed, arc size, and projectile speed. Refire rate directly affects the DPS of the bow. Additionally, arc size also affects the pathing of the arrow -- some obstacles might obstruct a bow with small arc size, but a bow with large arc size may be able to fly over the obstacle.
Weapon | Refire Rate | Range1 | Flight Time2 | Arc Size | Special Feature |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Longbow | 2.4 seconds | 1.6 | 0.59 seconds | Medium | None |
Flatbow | 2.0 seconds | 1.6 | 0.88 seconds | Large | None |
Hornbow | 2.7 seconds | 1.4 | 0.59 seconds | Medium | +10% Armor penetration |
Recurve Bow | 2.4 seconds | 1.4 | 0.40 seconds | Small | None |
Shortbow | 2.0 seconds | 1.05 | 0.59 seconds | Medium | None |
1 Range is approximated in the radius of the aggro circle measured on approximately flat ground.
2Flight Time is for a target at Shortbow range distance.
Max damage range of a bow is always 15-28, regardless of bow class. Bows with maximum damage have been observed with attribute requirements as low as 7. Bows with an attribute requirement of 0 have been observed with damage ranges as high as 9-13, although the Candy Cane Bow and Wintergreen Bow (only available during Wintersday) both do 15-15 damage (modified normally) but have no attribute requirement.

The weapon upgrades for the bow are Bow String (prefix) and Bow Grip (suffix).
Bows are weapons used in ranged combat that require a certain Ranged level to wield. They require ammunition in the form of arrows. Bows can be created by members through the Fletching skill and come in two varieties: longbows and shortbows.

Shortbows fire arrows at a faster rate than longbows but may not fire from as long of a distance.
Longbows can fire arrows at targets from a further distance than shortbows can, but they fire at a slower rate.
