A blood pack is simply a pack of blood and, initially, is next to useless as a healing item as it only restores 1HP per pack. Blood packs, in exception of other basic medicine and chems, have a weight of 1 unit each.

Locations

It can often be found in searchable first aid kits, along with Stimpaks, Dirty Water, Purified Water, and Rad Away. First aid kits are commonly found in bathrooms on the interior wall next to the door. Blood packs can also be found in searchable IV stands in hospitals and clinics.

Hematophage

After the player acquires the Hematophage perk, blood packs become much more useful, with one pack restoring 20 HP with no radiation damage, making it just as useful as purified water, which is harder to find. You can earn this perk by talking to Vance after completion of the quest Blood Ties.

Unmarked quest: I Want to Drink Your Blood

They can also be traded to Vance and the Family in exchange for 15 Caps if he made a deal between the Family and the people of Arefu.

History

The Bloopack was a team of vampire shock troops operating out of Prague. They were put together with one specific goal in mind - to deal their deadliest enemy, Blade. The Bloodpack trained for more than two years on how to hunt down and defeat Blade, but when the time finally came, they were surprised to discover that they now had to work alongside him. At the request of the Overlord of the Vampire Nation, Eli Damaskinos, Blade was placed in command of the Bloodpack so that he could help them route out and exterminate an even larger threat - the Reapers. The Reapers were an artificially created offshoot strain of vampire. They were faster, stronger and gained nourishment from feeding off the blood of other vampires as well as humans. The Bloodpack members were not pleased with having to share information with their sworn enemy. One member, Reinhardt, took great exception to Blade's presence, and voiced his opinion to him with a racist remark. Blade responded by implanting a remote controlled mini-bomb onto the back of Reinhardt's head. If his poor attitude persisted, Blade had no reservations about detonating the device.

The Bloodpack's first mission was to ferret out suspected Reaper activity at a vampire safe house called the House of Pain. While exploring the catacombs and adjacent dance hall of the building, the hunters quickly discovered that they were now the hunted. Blade faced off against Jared Nomak - the progenitor of the Reaper Strain. Their battle ended in a stalemate and Nomak managed to escape. Reinhardt and his colleague Chupa swept through the nightclub arena, blasting Reapers with UV-lamps and high-powered machine guns. Some of the Bloodpack members were not so lucky however. Lighthammer faced off against a Reaper in an unfurnished upper room, and although he survived the initial encounter, he was nonetheless infected with the Reaper Strain. Another Bloodpack member, Priest, met his end in an alleyway outside the House of Pain. Blade, Reinhardt and Chupa put Priest out of his misery just as the Reaper transformation began to take effect. The silent warrior known as Snowman also lost his life at this time.

The Bloodpack's second encounter with the Reaper's took place in the sewer tunnels beneath Prague. Chupa, after taking out some aggression on his so-called ally Abraham Whistler, was swarmed by a horde of Reapers and dragged under the water. Whistler detonated a UV flashbang grenade that wiped out all vampires in the chamber, including Chupa. Another Bloodpack member, Asad, was likewise ambushed by a gang of Reapers and met an end similar to Chupa.

By this point, Lighthammer's transformation was complete and he was now a full Reaper. He attacked his former lover Verlaine and chased her throughout the sewer tunnels. Verlaine climbed up a ladder that led to the surface and threw open the manhole cover. Sunlight beamed in, destroying them both.

With the rest of the Bloodpack gone, there was little to stop Reinhardt from turning against Blade. Blade's former armorer, Scud, having revealed himself as a loyal vampire familiar, removed the mini-bomb from the back of Reinhardt's head. This afforded him no extra benefit however, as Blade deftly cleaved him in half with one swift stroke from his sword.

The only member of the team left was Nyssa - daughter of Overlord Eli Damaskinos. After having been infected with the Reaper Strain by her brother Nomak, Nyssa declared that she wanted to die a vampire. She asked Blade to bring her to the roof of her father's building so she could watch the sunrise for the first time. As Blade cradled her in his arms, the sun came up over the horizon and Nyssa disintegrated into dust.

Paraphernalia

Equipment: None known.
Transportation: None known.

Notes

  • The Bloodpack is exclusive to the continuity of the Blade film and television franchise.
  • Though never firmly established, it is implied that Reinhardt was the leader of the Bloodpack prior to Blade's arrival.
