History

Blinky Boylan and his constant companions Winky Moylan and Noddy Toylan, who together were known as the Three Dimwits, were longtime allies of the first Flash, Jay Garrick.

The trio hopped a train passing through Nevada in a search for work. After being unable to find employment at the Blue Heron Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, they happened upon a bag of money that had been embezzled by casino owner Rocky Birnbaum. Hopping another train, they pondered using the money to retire to Cuba.[1]

The Three Dimwits eventually wound up in Central City, where they had difficulty holding down jobs due to various boneheaded mistakes they would make. One day, after all three had been fired by their respective employers, they decided to built a mechanical brain to tell them how to make money. Their interpretation of the brain's advice soon had them attempting to sell dirt dug up from their own backyard. However, gangster Toughy Boraz had hidden loot in their yard, and happened to be coming by to collect just as the Dimwits had begun their sale. When they discovered the loot, he pulled on a gun on them. However, they summoned the second Flash, who brought the ganster to justice. With the reward money from Boraz's capture, the Dimwits started an inventing company and purchased a car. Fed up with Central City traffic, they decided that their first invention should be a flying car, which they created by placing a Mexican jumping bean underneath their car's transmission. However, the car's maiden flight proved to be disastrous, as the Dimwits were unable to control it and soon found themselves dangling from the jumping car. Passing ganster Slick Saxon took the opportunity to steal their vehicle as he fled from a crime. The Flash again came to the rescue, bringing the car back to Earth and bringing Saxon to the police.[2]

In retirement, Winky, Blinky, and Noddy became volunteer guards at the Flash Museum. They were slain by villains stealing technology from the Cosmic Treadmill.[3]

Notes

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-Two era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985-86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
