Black market is a term for an illegal economy that is not regulated. Many goods are sold in this manner, such as weapons and drugs.

The Ferengi control the black market for meat on Vulcan. (ST reference: Federation Passport)

The black market thrived on Terok Nor during the Occupation and was run by individuals such as Quark and Ibudan. (DS9 episodes: "Necessary Evil", "A Man Alone")

The black market is a market consisting of all commerce on which applicable taxes and/or regulations of trade are being avoided.

The Rough Necks used the black market to sell items they gained through piracy. Brendan Patol noted that after one raid that the Rough Necks had not stolen anything that would fetch substantial prices on the black market. (Star Trek: Swiftfire: "A Rough Time")

The Black market was an illegal underworld center that the crime organizations such as the Zann Consortium accessed. Many forbidden droids, weapons, and other technological innovations could be found on the black market. Black market technology was often employed by pirates and other criminal organizations. Although the technology was effective, it was sometimes outdated. Also, the users would have to be careful, as it was a crime to possess illegal items.

The city of Depatar was considered the biggest black market in the Cularin system. It had been built by five crime syndicates wanting a neutral meeting ground to deal, and later offered to any parties with similar needs.[1]
