Black Waltz No. 2 is a boss from Final Fantasy IX. It finds the party on the airfield at Dali. It has a taunting manner and is only interested in capturing Dagger and will not even converse with Steiner, Vivi or Zidane.

"Resistance is futile."
—Black Waltz No. 2

The battle is relatively easy as long as the party is well-equipped, and the fact that the Black Waltz will not attack Dagger means that the player can use her to continuously heal the other party members without fear of attack. If Dagger is the last party member standing, it will cast Sleep on her and the game will be Game Over. However, you do have time to revive a party member before it does this. This Black Waltz uses second level Black Magic (Fira, Thundara, Blizzara) and as such, its magic is more potent than the first. The Black Waltz No. 2 rarely casts its level two magic, but halfway through the battle, will cast a level two spell, usually Fira, after saying, "My mission is to take back the princess!" Also, if magic is cast on it by Vivi, it will taunt him by using the next spell up. For example, if Vivi uses Thunder, the Black Waltz will counter with Thundara, claiming "This is how you use Thunder!", be careful with this level two Black Magic because it is very powerful. He does not retaliate in this way if Steiner's Sword Magic is used against him.

When the battle is over, Dagger will attempt to get information from the dying construct, but to no avail.
