History

Birdman is the adult version of Bird-Boy, a teenage avian who was once in love with Wonder Girl and later with the adult Wonder Woman. Wonder Girl first discovered Bird-Boy flying around the perimeter of Paradise Island. He was immediately smitten with her, but also had to contend with his marine rival, Mer-Boy. ^[1]

As an adult, Birdman was forced to compete with several other suitors for Wonder Woman's affection including Steve Trevor and the now grown Mer-Man. Birdman was horrified to discover that Wonder Woman had agreed to marry a green-skinned monster from a nearby island. The wedding never took place however, as the monster realized that he was too loathesome in appearance to ever marry Wonder Woman. ^[2]

Powers and Abilities

Powers

• Flight: Birdman can fly by way of naturally grown wings.
• Claws: Birdman has taloned claws on the bottom of his feet.

Notes

• This version of Birdman (Earth-One), including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the Multiverse in the 1985-86 Crisis on Infinite Earths limited series and is now considered apocryphal.
• The character of Birdman was retired in an in-universe story which also featured creators Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru. ^[3]
