From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

This article is about nests dropped while Woodcutting. For nests used in Summoning and Herblore, see Crushed nest.

A Bird's nest can be found when cutting trees, as a reward from Wyson the gardener, collected from the Managing Kingdom minigame, and sometimes as a reward in the Gnome Restaurant minigame. If a player is cutting a tree and sees it on the ground, they are advised to pick it up as it will soon disappear. Wyson will give players nests in exchange for Mole claws and Mole skins, which are dropped by Giant moles and Molanisks.

The nests may contain tree seeds (which are used for Farming), gold rings, raven eggs, or bird's eggs. They can also be crushed with a pestle and mortar for use in making Saradomin brew, made by Herblore.

While a bird's nest cannot be traded, crushing one with a pestle and mortar will turn it into a crushed nest, which is tradeable.

One other route to obtaining birds nests is using the Miscellania and Etceteria kingdom to work on cutting maple, teak, or mahogany - a few nests a day can be obtained via this method.

Also, with the Hunter skill, players can make a Strung rabbit foot which will increase the chances of getting a bird's nest while Woodcutting. However, players must have completed the Eagles' Peak quest to catch rabbits.

With the release of the Summoning skill by Jagex in January 2008, many players started desperately hunting for bird's nests, with the hope of getting a bird's egg which can be hatched if a player has the appropriate Summoning level.

On 3 March 2009, after numerous complaints by players not hearing whenever the nests dropped to the ground, Jagex decided to upgrade the sound effect of a bird's nest, which is now a bird chirping.

Possible loot

NOTE: There are two different kind of nests with seeds which have separate piles in the bank. Nests from trading in mole claws/skins can give only (gold to diamond) rings, tree seeds, fruit tree seeds, calquat, spirit tree seeds and white lilly seeds (requires completion of Falador achievement diary). Woodcutting and Managing Miscellania minigame give any kind of seeds listed below.

Seeds (possible only from mole reward)

Reward Probability

There was a test performed to find the probability of receiving each type of ring as a reward from a ring nest.

Gold ring 94 33.8%
Sapphire ring 115 41.2%
Emerald ring 42 15.2%
Ruby ring 26 9.4%
Diamond ring 1 0.4%
Total 278 100%
Two nests at the same time
