The Bio-Gas Canister is a hand grenade which is added to Fallout 3 with the Point Lookout add-on. It deploys a cloud of natural gas (most likely methane) on the target. As with all gas leaks, it will ignite from explosives, energy weapons and conventional fire while inside the cloud. This results in a fireball on the target.

Main article: An Antique Land

17 Bio-Gas Canisters can be found in the course of the quest An Antique Land.

Notes

  • Bio-Gas Canisters use the model of the Pulse Grenade.
  • The flame of the gas itself won't actually damage your enemy badly, but it will stun them, giving you an opportunity to flee should you choose to do so.
  • The canisters inflict fire damage to any enemies in the vicinity, though targets aren't on fire. This is observable by hitting a very weak enemy with the canister, only to watch them die seconds afterwards.
  • The resulting gas doesn't dissapear. This allows for colorful decorations of certain areas.

Bugs

  • A large bug allows for execution of major, non-essential characters without retaliation of their faction, like Slavers. Here's how you do it:
  1. Successfully reverse-pickpocket Bio-Gas Canisters into the target NPC's inventory Until their health is low.
  2. Ignite the immensely concentrated gas cloud, killing the target. Do not hit the target. It's advised to shoot an energy weapon through the cloud to avoid personal injury.
Of course, such NPCs aren't supposed to be dead with their appropriate faction remaining friendly to the player. Expect bugs.

Appearances

Bio-Gas Canisters appear in the Fallout 3 add-on Point Lookout.
