"Battle to the Death" (最後の死闘, Saigo no shitō) is the theme that plays during the final battle with the Cloud of Darkness in Final Fantasy III. It is composed by Nobuo Uematsu in 1990 and was released in the Final Fantasy III: Original Sound Version album as the 43rd track.

Final Fantasy III: Eternal Legend of the Wind

In this studio album, the "Battle to the Death" was rearranged into a medley, and renamed "The Dark Cloud".

Final Fantasy III: Original Soundtrack

In this soundtrack for the game's Nintendo DS remake, there are two tracks for the "Battle to the Death". The first is the DS version, It was separated into three tracks, with the final battle theme named "最後の死闘 -3-", while the second is the original theme rerecorded by The Black Mages.

The Black Mages III: Darkness and Starlight

The theme was also included in their third studio album The Black Mages III: Darkness and Starlight. This version was retitled "KURAYAMINOKUMO" ("The Cloud of Darkness") and featured an extended guitar and keyboard solo by performed by Michio Okamiya, Kenichiro Fukui and Tsuyoshi Sekito.

Chocobo Racing Original Soundtrack

The Fantasia Track of Chocobo Racing uses a version of "Battle to the Death" as its theme music, named "Illusion World".

Dissidia Final Fantasy

A remix of this song can be chosen to be heard on any common battle, and may be heard whenever a story battle occurs in the World of Darkness, or be fought against Onion Knight or Cloud of Darkness. The track is labeled "This Is The Last Battle" in this appearance.
