Second Battle of Chin'toka Battle of the Three Suns Liberation of Betazed

The Battle of the Three Suns was one of the final major engagements of the Dominion War. It derives its name from the three star systems the major operations took place in. (LUG RPG: The Dominion War Sourcebook: The Fires of Armageddon)

Following the development of a countermeasure against the Breen energy dampening weapon the Federation Alliance planned a major offensive against the Dominion. Selecting the Chin'toka, Daxura and Zhamur systems the alliance forces would approach as if making a final effort to defeat a superior enemy and then launch a surprise attack as the enemy wasted its time firing the Breen weapon.

The Zhamur system

The Dominion's strongest position remaining in the Kalandra sector, the Zhamur system saw the most successful use of the plan. The Dominion forces overconfident, over extended themselves and the main body of the fleet was wiped out by Starfleet and Romulan capital ships. At the same time smaller ships and attack fighters engaged the outlying vessels. In three hours the battle was won and the Zhamur system fell to the alliance.

The Daxura system

The Daxura system was located in a position to threaten the Federation planet of Bolarus IX and other core worlds. The Dominion forces in the system were more cautious then those at Zhamur, moving slowly to engage the Starfleet forces. After an hour of fighting a Klingon/Romulan force appeared on both flanks and smashed into the sides of the Dominion's formation, crushing it. As the remnants turned to flee they were met by more Klingon forces, which obliterated them.

The Chin'toka System

Following the Second Battle of Chin'toka the Dominion forces had dug in deep and the Starfleet faced the toughest challenge. The Dominion forces in Chin'toka were the least surprised of the three forces that the Breen weapon was no longer useful and the two sides clashed in a fierce battle. The Alliance ships focused on the Breen vessels and were able to turn the Jem'Hadars' flank, driving the Dominion forces from the system.

The operation was a stunning success for the Federation Alliance. The three main operations and the lesser offensives that accompanied them accounted for 6,000 enemy ships, approximately 20% of the Dominion's total fleet. The alliance suffered heavily in these battles but their losses were insignificant when compared to the losses they inflicted on the Dominion. These successful also opened up the Betazed system allowing for the Alliance to launch an offensive to free Betazed.
