Background

After the Imperial Starfleet under Gilad Pellaeon had successfully captured several New Republic planets in the Orinda campaign, the Republic attempted a counterattack at Orinda, one of the planets captured by the Imperial Remnant.

A fleet under General Wedge Antilles and his flagship, the Star Dreadnought Lusankya, was dispatched to Orinda to face off against the fleet of then-Admiral Gilad Pellaeon, Supreme Commander of the Imperial Fleet.

The battle

Pellaeon's fleet included the Star Dreadnought Reaper, thus making the Battle of Orinda one of the few known events where such vessels fought one another.

The turn of the battle in favor of the Empire came when the Reaper successfully destroyed the New Republic fleet carrier Endurance with all starfighters aboard as well as nearly the entirety of the Lusankya's complement of fighters, crippling Antilles' ability to use his superior fighter support and tactics. Following this debacle, Antilles was forced to order a retreat, and no further attempt was made to recover Orinda from the Empire.
