Cardinal Batistum is a minor character in Vagrant Story. He never appears in the game itself, but manipulates the actions behind the scenes. The Cardinal is the leader of the Order of the Crimson Blades, and he orders them to capture the Müllenkamp leader, Sydney Losstarot so that they can take control of the Dark and obtain immortality. However, his man in charge of the operation, Romeo Guildenstern, does not follow orders and tries to take the power of Leá Monde for himself. The Cardinal's fate is never revealed.
