A barrowbug is an insect found on Bajor. They dig and live in mounds. (DS9 episode: "Ties of Blood and Water")

Barrowbugs resemble Earth cockroaches and spit acidic venom. On average, they are about the size of a Human fist. (TN novel: Day of the Vipers)
