Ballantine Books is an American book publisher, established in 1952. In the 1970s Ballantine published Franz Joseph's Star Trek: Starfleet Technical Manual and Alan Dean Foster's novelizations of Star Trek: The Animated Series.

In 2006, as part of Star Trek's 40th Anniversary celebration, Ballantine's titles were reprinted, though by Del Rey Books, which had been launched by Ballantine in 1977 as their science fiction and fantasy imprint.

Ballantine Books is a publisher that produces Halo books. Del Rey Books which is a branch of Ballantine Books, published the first three Halo novels which included Halo: The Fall of Reach, Halo: The Flood and Halo: First Strike. And it would seem that they will not return to publish any more Halo novels in the future.

Ballantine Books is a publishing company owned by Random House. Del Rey, which publishes all Star Wars novels (except for those originally published by Bantam Spectra), is the science-fiction imprint of Ballantine Books.
