Asha was a female Cardassian who lived in the 24th century and was born in the late 2350s. She lived on Bajor during the Occupation and was orphaned and left behind after the Cardassian Union withdrew from the planet.

Asha was placed in a resettlement center in Tozhat Province. In 2370, Asha and the other Cardassian children there were excited to see Elim Garak at the center, believing he had come to take them home. She and the others were disheartened when he told them he hadn't. (DS9 episode: "Cardassians")

In 2376, Garak had a nightmare in which Asha and the other children appeared, asking the same question, if he was to take them home. Garak broke down, waking from his nightmare, shouting that there was no home anymore, Cardassia having been devastated by the Dominion. (DS9 novel: A Stitch in Time)

Princess Kneesaa and Asha

When Asha was still a child, a hanadak attacked the Chirpa family. Asha's mother, Ra-Lee, died while trying to save her daughter. Asha disappeared during the confrontation, leaving behind only traces of fur and clothing. Her family gave her up for dead.

Asha was found by a clan of corrinas, who accepted her and raised her as one of their own. Asha spent her early adulthood tracking down Dulok fur traders under the name the Red Ghost. Many years later Wicket and his friends saw her and told Kneesaa who began to cry. Wicket went to see Kneesaa, who was holding Asha's ripped hood. Wicket and Kneesaa went looking for Asha. They eventually found her and together they stopped the dulok fur traders. Then Kneesaa took Asha back to the Bright Tree Villlage.
