A detailed image of the Armadyl godsword

The Armadyl godsword is one of the four Godswords. Like all godswords, it requires level 75 Attack to wield. It has a special attack called The Judgement which inflicts 25% more damage with a 50% Special bar drain. The Armadyl godsword is considered to be the strongest weapon in the game. This weapon's main competition comes from the Dragon Claws which have a similar hard-hitting special attack. Some people prefer the Dragon Claws because they are cheaper and have a better chance to hit higher since the Armadyl Godsword special attack only hits once. The Godsword is created by Smithing together the three Godsword shards (80 Smithing or higher is required to do this) and putting an Armadyl hilt onto the end (no requirements) creating the wieldable Armadyl godsword.

In the months following their release in August 2007, Armadyl Godswords were worth 150-200m. However, the price of AGS gradually declined, and in September 2008, it was only 55m. This was the all-time low. From then, the long-term trend until around May 2009 was a slow rise up to 70m. Then in June 2009 the price started rising faster (mostly due to coins coming into the game from pvp worlds). Despite periodic declines in price and even some full-out crashes, in October 2009, the price reached over 100m, and in November 2009, it reached over 120m. However, as of late January 2010, the price is back at about 110m, down from its peak at 125m a couple months earlier.

The Armadyl godsword is used most commonly in safe PvP minigames, Bounty + 1 item worlds, and killing boss monsters such as General Graardor due to its high hitting special attack. It can be used for training but not as effectively as the Saradomin godsword due to the fact that a slightly larger amount of damage every few minutes is not as useful as healing. The special attack has no notable benefits (such as hitting a 30 with the Bandos Godsword being useful as it drained 30 defence as well). Using all the best Strength equipment, boosting potions, and having 99 Strength, a player can hit up to 93+ with its special attack against monsters, although a player can hit 104 while wearing the Castlewar bracelet and using the sword's special attack (their opponent must be using Saradomin Brews or Rocktails to increase the maximum hp). It is also classed as a "no-skill" weapon due to the fact that one can easily two hit somebody.

A closeup of an Armadyl Godsword
  • The Armadyl godsword is currently the most expensive weapon in the game.
  • The maximum hit of the Armadyl Godsword is 104, with a maximum equipment Strength bonus, an overload/extreme strength potion and turmoil prayer in castle wars with a castle wars bracelet equipped while entering. A player must switch the bracelet with barrows gloves from Recipe for Disaster and attack the flag holder in a game of castle wars to achieve a max hit. Only under these circumstances will this work.
  • You can see an Armadyl Godsword up close by leaning over the wall in the Duel arena with another player wielding the godsword. To do this you will have to turn the angle of your screen. This can also be done with other weapons.
