Arizona is a region of the North American continent on the planet Earth, with boundaries that were created as the area was settled as a geopolitical subdivision of the United States of America nation. The state of Arizona is located in the southwestern corner of the United States, along the border with Mexico.

History

The state was noted for the rather beautiful sunrises over the Arizona desert, as well as natural features such as the Grand Canyon. (VOY episodes: "The 37s", "Imperfection")

The Army of Eternal Vigilance (AEV), an antigovernment militia commanded by an Augment named Hawkeye Morrison in the 1990s, was based in Cochise County, Arizona. (ST novel: The Eugenics Wars, Book Two)

Also during the 1990s, a distant ancestor of Commander Chakotay was living in Arizona. When Chakotay and the crew of the USS Voyager were thrown back in time to 1996, Chakotay considered looking up this ancestor. (VOY episode: "Future's End")

History

The State of Arizona is a state located in the southwestern region of the United States of America. The capital and largest city is Phoenix. The five next largest cities are Tucson, Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, and Scottsdale. Arizona was the 48th and last of the contiguous states admitted to the Union on February 14, 1912. Arizona is noted for its desert climate, exceptionally hot summers and mild winters, but the high country in the north features pine forests and mountain ranges with cooler weather than the lower deserts.

Coffin Springs

Coffin Springs was a boomtown in the Arizona territory in the late 19th century. The alien conqueror known as Devlos Ungol set up a base of operations in Coffin Springs under the name Mr. Tor. The Green Lantern of Earth's sector, Abin Sur, came to Coffin Springs and teamed up with U.S. marshal Henry Lee Jordan to defeat Devlos. ^[1]

Desecration

In the 19th century, Desecration was a small boom-town located south of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Members of the Justice League of America traveled into the past and teamed up with several western heroes to defeat the Lord of Time here.^[2]

Sonoran Desert

The Sonorian Desert was the site of a small S.T.A.R. Labs facility. It was here that scientist Alex Ferguson discovered a Martian Kuru pendant and had an encounter with the Martian Manhunter, J'onn J'onzz. DEO agent Rio Ferdinand inspected the facility and had Ferguson's assistant, Sully, assassinated. ^[3]

Tempe

Tempe is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona. Tempe is located in the East Valley portion of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area; it is bordered by Phoenix on the west, Scottsdale on the north, Chandler on the south, and Mesa on the east. In the continuity of the Supernatural titles, John Winchester went to Tempe to meet a man named Fletcher Grable who taught him about the existence of a creature known as a Black Shuck.^[4]

Tresle Bridge

A railroad accident at Tresle Bridge in 1940 led to Alan Scott becoming Earth's first Green Lantern in recent times.^[5]

Wolfman and Perez High School

This is a public school system located in Arizona. Using the alias Megan Morse, the Teen Titan known as Miss Martian is enrolled as a student here. Though she tried to maintain her secret identity, the student body became aware of her powers when the Terror Titan known as the Disruptor attacked the school exposing Megan's Martian heritage. The school is named after writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Pérez. ^[6]

• Big Bird conducts a child mariachi band in Guadalupe, Arizona for a segment of Wish You Were Here on Sesame Street (EKA: Episode 3012). • The only exception to this trend is in "Numbers" when Hurley's accountant informs him that his sneaker factory in Canada has burned down. There's no evidence to suggest that the accountant is lying.

• Also, in "S.O.S." Bernard proposes to Rose in a restaurant overlooking Niagara Falls. The greater Horseshoe Falls can be seen out the window, which are part of Canada.
