The Argyre clan was one of a number of Martian clans among the Ice Warriors' race.
At some point in the past, one of the clan's rulers was Marshal Kyruul and after his death; he was buried in a tomb in the sands of Mare Sirenum in a place known as the Fields of the Dead. By the latter half of the 20th century, the clan's nobility had not adopted the sleeker bio-armour that most of the Martian clans wore by that time.
In the year 1997, it was led by Lord Xznaal who collaborated with British Science Minister Greyhaven in order to use the Mars mission as a means of bringing his clan to Earth. Through the deception, under Martian law, he claimed that Great Britain was subject to the rule of the Argyre clan and its lord. When Xznaal was crowned King of England, members of the Argyre clan began to enforce its rule on the United Kingdom with the support of their warship. Once in control, they created death camps for their Human slaves and began conducting experiments on the prisoners as well as manufactured the Red Death to kill The Doctor.
Their actions led to Lord Greyhaven uncovering the truth that his allies had betrayed him. This led to him triggering the Mars Orbiter's rockets by remote control on a collision course to the Argyre clan's holdings. Though Greyhaven was killed by Xznaal, he was too late and could only watch helplessly as the Orbiter obliterated his entire clan. Due to the limited resources on Mars, the only remaining asset the clan had was its warship that was in orbit and providing them with supremacy over the Human race. In order to avenge his clan, he attempted to unleash the Red Death on Earth in order to wipe out the entirety of the Human species but was defeated by the Doctor. The sole remaining warship was later destroyed by a strafing run from RAF fighters which ended the Martian clan threat to mankind. (NA: The Dying Days)
