From TARDIS Index File, the free Doctor Who reference.

Anti-matter is a rare substance, the opposite of matter, having an explosive reaction when it comes into contact with its opposite.

Omega was once stuck in a world of antimatter (inside a black hole), from there he used his gell guards to attack UNIT HQ in an attempt to drag the Doctor to his home to take his place. (DW: The Three Doctors)

Following this attempt Omega tried once more this time using the Arc of Infinity to escape building himself a new body based on the Doctor's fifth incarnation. The Doctor however was forced to kill Omega as he was reverting to antimatter (on Earth). (DW: Arc of Infinity)

Traces of anti-matter could be found under the surface of the planet Zeta Minor. (DW: Planet of Evil)

Antimatter was always considered to be a theoretical concept, however, it could be simulated using computers, allowing Humans to power their freighters with it in the 26th century. An antimatter vessel, however, can only be stable if the ship itself is molecularly stable, otherwise it would explode. (DW: Earthshock)

Antimatter was a generalized term that was used to describe a state of matter which is in some way different from another form of matter. The term is often used to describe:

  • a subatomic particle of matter which has an opposite charge of another particle of matter
  • a subatomic particle of matter that is a variant of another particle, albeit with different qualities
  • antimatter universe which is identical to the "normal" universe at the macro level

From DC Database

Antimatter

Antimatter is an alternate form of matter comprised of antiparticles. It functions in direct opposition to positive matter and contact between the two will ultimately destroy the particles of both. In terms of dimensional reality, an entire universe composed of Antimatter exists and is the birth place of the Anti-Monitor and the Thunderers of Qward.

Antimatter is the physical counterpart to matter. Antimatter consists of antiparticles which have the same mass as their matter counterparts but with a reversed charge. Antimatter annihilates upon contact with matter, theoretically releasing all energy; mainly in the form of photons.

The Covenant use antimatter as a reactant in ordnance.[1]

Antimatter is an exotic material made from particles that are the reverse of, or complement to, the particles of normal matter. When matter and antimatter meet, they annihilate each other, releasing tremendous amounts of energy. (TOS: "Obsession")

In VOY: "Flesh and Blood" they create antiphotons, which do not make sense in real-world particle physics, because photons are their own antiparticle. So "antimatter" may be defined in terms of particle properties not yet discovered.

Matter-antimatter reactors

Matter–antimatter (M/AM) reactors have been used by Humans since the Colossus reactor went online in 2147 at Argyre Planitia on Mars. (Starfleet Museum)

M/AM reactors have been used to power warp engines on Earth Starfleet ships since the 2150s, replacing the use of fusion reactors.

The date is given as 2152 in the Starfleet Museum. The Enterprise (NX-01) is launched in 2151 in the Enterprise series.

Antimatter weapons

Antimatter can be stored and transported in magnetic bottles. These can be used as improvised explosives comparable to 10000 cobalt bombs. (TOS: "Obsession")

James Kirk claims that a pound of antimatter is sufficient to destroy the system—whereas the Sun happily annihilates 4 million tonnes of matter per second without any problems. Kirk's statement either is wild exaggeration, or indicates that 23rd-century antimatter is far more potent than the real-world equivalent.

Photon torpedoes use magnetically contained matter and antimatter in their warheads.

Starwars

Up to date as of February 04, 2010

From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.

Antimatter was the opposite of normal matter in terms of atomic structure. Particles of antimatter contained the opposite charge of normal matter. Matter and antimatter annihilated each other when they came into contact, releasing huge amounts of energy.

Antimatter was used in Jedi Interceptor Hyperdrive Rings to provide the starship with enough density to remain in hyperspace, as the Interceptor was not large enough to retain supralight speeds without external aid.

Antimatter traces were left by passing starships, which may be explained by certain hyperdrives being fueled by anti-matter. Mako Spince used antimatter to destroy Carida's Mascot Moon. The EX-F was a ship run by an experimental antimatter reactor.

Antimatter was also used in numerous weapons designs by many different cultures. For example, the sentient spacecraft Ship's primary weapons were anti-matter pods, and the Galactic Empire sometimes used anti-matter micromines.

Antimatter is a powerful energy source, though somewhat unstable.

Fiction

Generation One cartoon continuity

Dr. Alcazar created an antimatter formula, which came to the attention of Megatron. Predictably, he wanted it as a source of energy. The doc deleted the formula, but sent it to Chip Chase. Ultimately, Megatron decided that antimatter was simply too unstable to use. Roll For It

On the other hand, the Ark has an antimatter conversion chamber as part of its power system. All or Nothing!

Traveller

From Traveller Wiki - Science-Fiction Adventure in the Far future

Antimatter or contra-terrene matter is matter that is composed of the antiparticles of those that constitute normal matter. If a particle and its antiparticle come in contact with each other, the two annihilate and produce a burst of energy, which results in the production of other particles and antiparticles or electromagnetic radiation. In these reactions, rest mass is not conserved, although (as in any other reaction) energy (E=mc²) is conserved. Antimatter is available as a Power Source, and a weapon (Missile Warhead) at TL-17

Defeating Anti-Matter is required for the Dimensional Warder Badge.

Description

Trapped within his powered armour, Anti-Matter used to be Tyrant's primary scientific consultant. He and Neuron were once best of friends and created the Clockwork of Praetorian Earth together. Of late his theories have been more and more radical causing Tyrant to lean on Neuron for research and analysis. Unbeknownst to anyone Anti-Matter had cracked the Portal tech. He is waiting to reveal his breakthrough in order to garner favour from Tyrant and his true love, Dominatrix.
