Rinoa in Angel Wing mode

Angel Wing is Rinoa's second Limit Break in Final Fantasy VIII.

Rinoa acquires her Angel Wing Limit Break after Squall saves her from drifting in outer space in disc 3. When entering Angel Wing mode, a pair of white feathered wings, similar to the one that is printed on her blue sweater, will emerge from Rinoa's back, thus giving her an angelic appearance.

Activating Angel Wing will cause Rinoa to receive a sort of "Magic-Berserk" status; players will lose control of her until the end of the battle or until she is defeated or petrified. However, if Rinoa is petrified/defeated, she will not get the Angel Wing status when revived/cured. Rinoa will also be immune to Berserk, Confuse, and Silence. In this state, Rinoa will automatically cast one offensive magic spell present in her inventory without the player's command. This, notably, will not expend the spell in her inventory, which is important for maintaining the effects of junctioned spells. Unfortunately, Double and Triple status do not stack with Angel Wing.

When in Angel Wing status, Rinoa's magic damage will be five times more powerful than its base damage, even when her magic stat is already at the maximum 255. To prevent Rinoa from casting unwanted spells like Scan or Dispel, simply remove those spells from her inventory. Rinoa can become quite the devastating character if one manipulates her magic junctions in such a way that Meteor is the only offensive spell she has in her arsenal. With the boost in magic damage and the appropriate magic stats, Rinoa could potentially be doing close to 99,990 damage in one attack round (the Meteor spell being a 10-fold attack, ergo 9,999 ten times). Because there is no spell or skill equivalent to Meltdown that will reduce an enemy's Spirit to 0, even with the 5x damage multiplier from simply enabling Angel Wing and capped Magic at 255, it is still rather difficult to force the Meteor spell to exceed 6,600 damage per meteorite strike on harder bosses such as Omega Weapon, even at level 100. In most cases, this is still a stronger alternative than attempting to execute Rinoa's Wishing Star Limit Break. Also, if one takes into account the concept that Final Fantasy VIII's battle system is based on the infamous ATB gauge and takes place in pseudo real-time, the mere fact that a player does not have to manually input commands for Rinoa after her Angel Wing status is initiated increases her damage-over-time capabilities tremendously.
