Aluminum (abbreviated Al, sometimes known as aluminium) is a chemical element, a metal. Aluminum is element number 13 on the periodic table. This element was discovered in 1825 by Humans, in Denmark on Earth. (ST reference: Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual)

In 2370, Jake Sisko fed some hungry Horta an armful of aluminum baseball bats in an attempt to try and slow their progress to Deep Space 9's core. (DS9 novel: Devil in the Sky)

It was the basic element for forming Agrinium, which was applied to droid armor.
