Alien8 Recordings, located smack in the middle of the current indie epicenter known as Montreal, doesn't put out your traditional indie-rock albums. Instead they venture outward into the experimental and forward-thinking sounds that aren't quite as accessible or popular as some of the other local acts. They have had some success with acts that could fit that catchy bill though, especially Les Georges Leningrad and the insta-hype, already broken up power-pop trio known as The Unicorns. Most of the acts on the roster though fall within the realm of avant-garde and experimental, and Alien8 is a good catalyst for them to get their music out.
