Alaris Prime was a moon of Alaris in the Alaris Expanse of the Kashyyyk system. Alaris Prime's temperate forest and ocean ecosystem was highly similar to Kashyyyk, including gargantuan wroshyr trees and fierce gundarks.

Geography

Alaris Prime was covered generally in forests, jungles, and grass plains. There were many wroshyr trees on the world, with the Wookiees inventing various theories as to how the tree traveled over from Kashyyyk. Due to the fact that it had no major civilization for a long period, it had much wildlife and vegetation.

Fauna

Alaris Prime was home to a multitude of different species, such as swarms of the insectoid Gnasps, packs of Gundarks, and many others. An interesting note is that an unknown species of Mynock found on the planet, and may be considered a new species if it is proven not to be a Vynock.

History

In 1,002 BBY, the Gloom Walkers, an elite force for the Brotherhood of Darkness, was on patrol when they were ambushed by Republic soldiers. The casualties were heavy and the Gloom Walkers won the battle, forcing the Republic troops to flee.[2]

The moon had ancient Jedi ruins, but was long forgotten until a few decades before 32 BBY. Upon discovery of the untouched world, the Wookiees of Kashyyyk sought and earned approval to colonize the moon through the negotiating skill of Attichitcuk. The Trade Federation expressed an interest in the small moon, no doubt forecasting that Alaris Prime could be an important way-station for trade between Kashyyyk, Bimmisaari, and even Kessel.

Some time before the arrival of the Wookiees, a droid army under the leadership of Viceroy Nute Gunray settled on the forest moon to begin establish a base in the strategically located system. With the sanction of the Jedi Council, Qui-Gon Jinn and the Wookiees successfully drove the Trade Federation and their Trandoshan allies off world in the First Battle of Alaris Prime.

The Wookiee colonists chose to join the Galactic Republic. Alaris Prime eventually became a significant technology hub. As the Separatist Crisis stewed, Kashyyyk's loyalty wavered, but Alaris Prime remained loyal to the Republic. Wookiee engineers on the colony designed and produced the Decimator weapon system to aid the Republic in its ground battles.

When the Clone Wars erupted, the engineers' efforts made their home an early target. A month after the Battle of Geonosis, Alaris Prime came under siege by the forces of Sev'Rance Tann in search of fail-safe codes for the Decimator technology, becoming the First Battle on Alaris Prime of the Clone Wars. Shortly after Tann departed, Anakin Skywalker was taken to the moon by Count Dooku and Cydon Prax. Dooku intended to subject Skywalker and the population of Alaris Prime to a test of the Force Harvester, the power source of the Dark Reaper. Skywalker was able to free the captive Wookiees and signal the Republic for help. Wookiee warriors initiated a holding maneuver until Republic reinforcements led by Obi-Wan Kenobi could arrive and defeat the Confederacy forces, leading into the Second Battle of Alaris Prime.

The moon was likely subject to the same blockade and enslavement that Kashyyyk suffered. The moon probably followed Kashyyyk into the New Republic and Galactic Alliance.
