The Advance-class was a type of Federation starship in service in the early 23rd century.

One of the most famous starships of the class was the USS Sentry, which answered a distress call by an alien warpshuttle under pursuit by the Klingon warship, IKV Devisor in the Gamma Demetrius system in 2218 (2151 SFC). (Star Trek Spaceflight Chronology, TOS novel: The Final Reflection)

There is probably a USS Advance that would be the first vessel of this series, but such a ship has not been referenced in Star Trek publications to date.
