Darth Vader |
Adam Harmon was the son of Elsk and his wife Deje Harmon. He was considered a warrior by all, and a prophecy was made about him.

At the age of four, the Clone Wars broke out, and the Harmon family could barely make ends meet. One day, Adam fell extremely sick, and as his father hurried home from work to see to him, he was meet by none other than Count Dooku, who told him that his son would be fine, and that he would become a great leader of warriors.
No one knew how accurate he was speaking.
In an attempt to pry Republic troops from Naboo, Duckoo launched a full scale invasion. Anakin Skywalker was called to duty on the planet, while Obi-wan Kenobi was sent to hold one of the moons. Skywalker was ambushed not far from the Harmon house, and was saved by Adam, who accidentally broke the planking off of a roof he was watching the fight from, thus causing a diversion.
Skywalker gave young Harmon a jade ring that he had made for Padame, but felt that his young rescuer should have it instead.
Not much can be told about the years after this in the life of Harmon. He left for the Imperial military, and was nearly executed by Palpatine when Harmon showed force potential. However, he decided to adopt Harmon as his own child, but it was Darth Vader who took over Harmon's training.
Meanwhile, Harmon was a bold person. He was one of the few to tell Palpatine how things were. As such, he and his adopted father would clash several times.
In 3 ABY, Admiral Harmon lead his fleet in a very successful purge of the Gingy System. It was so thorough a job, that the rebels had no time to escape, and no time to call for help.
Seeing this, and many other victories by Harmon. Palpatine bestowed the rank of Grand Admiral onto Harmon.
After Palpatine died, Triculus took command of the Empire, being the oldest son of Palpatine. Despite the fact that he bore Harmon no great love (and Harmon hated him), he elected him to the position of Supreme Commander of the Imperial military. Triculus single-handedly was defeated during a suicidal attack on Yavin IV, then nearly destroyed the Imperial Fleet by giving a suicidal order at the Second Battle of Coruscant. Harmon saved the fleet by attacking and subduing the Emperor.
Triculus could not see how Harmon had preserved the Empire, and with the help of the Prophets of the Dark Side, demoted Harmon and sent him to Hoth. However, he was saved a cold death when Luke Skywalker came to his rescue.
Harmon, seeing that Triculus would destroy the Empire, struck a deal with Kadaan, Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side, and they captured Triculus, and carbon froze him on Bespin. Then, they toppled the statue to the ground, destroying it. Harmon then was nearly killed by stormtroopers loyal to Triculus, and then a Dark Jedi attacked Harmon. Harmon defeated him in a lightsaber duel, but lost his right hand.
Thrawn rescued Harmon, but, he knew that he was no longer welcomed, for he had participated in the assassination of his Emperor. In 6 ABY he fled to the Inner Core, where he was able to gather all of the scattered forces in the area. His force became so formidable, that it wouldn't be until 9 ABY that he would be defeated and driven from there.
During his reign of the Inner Core, his garrison on the planet Tanor, suddenly began putting forth pleas for assistance. The garrison was being destroyed by a rebel group on the planet, and couldn't hold out much longer. A task force sent to relieve them was massacred upon leaving their ships. Another task force meet a similar fate. Finally, Harmon decided that it was time to stop this nuisance once and for all.
He personally led the assault force, and was able to defeat the force in the Battle of Tanor. The leader surrendered, and when interrogated as to why she had attacked an Imperial garrison, she said she wanted to see Harmon. Surprised by the information, Harmon decided to humor her by visiting her, but it was he that was to get humored. He fell in love with the leader instantly, but, it took his second-in-command to explain to Harmon what he felt, for Harmon had never felt love before to anyone.
The leader, whose name was Callista Jiller, was released by a confused Harmon. They would meet regularly, until he finally married her in 8 ABY.
Harmon, with a rank of Vice Admiral, was one of the first to recognize the threat of the Yuuzhan Vong, and he helped Gilad Pelleaon in the defense of Bastion. After Bastion and Munnulist fell, Harmon activated several cloning facilities he had set up, and helped repeal the assault.
Then, he began a campaign which shoved the Yuuzhan Vong very close to collapsing. He was not present for the Peace Treaty, as he was busy helping the Chiss to eliminate a cell of Vong Warriors in Chiss Space.
In 49 ABY, Palpatine was resurrected by way of a resurrection crystal. His first stop over after his return was to Harmon, and demanded that he join and hand over the deed to the Graveyard of Super Star Destroyers. When Harmon refused, he was banished to the New Republic.
Harmon, not willing to go down without a fight, convinced 50 captains and an admiral to follow him. He was then able to convince the Republic Chief of State to join his cause. Together, they repelled an assault on the Graveyard itself.
After this battle, Harmon continued a guerrilla war. However, his wife was killed during a battle in which Harmon lost the symbolic Star Destroyer Vader's Wrath. Harmon came up with the Grand Plan, which ended up winning the war. But that was not before Harmon killed by Palpatine onboard the bombship The Emperor's Pride as he tried to save Luke Skywalker. However, since he had done the ultimate sacrifice for an ally, he was burned in a honorable Jedi pyre.
Harmon was considered a true warrior by those who served under him. If a battle Harmon planned could not be won, he preferred not to waste troops and equipment in futile last stands. More then once he withdrew from a battle and adjusted his plans. He also encouraged Captain Kevin Rasmussen to voice his ideas, because, unlike many other Imperial commanders, Harmon could accept valid ideas even if they were not his own. Harmon was not concerned with his own personal glory, only with winning the fight against first the New Republic (which he refused to acknowledge as such, until the Galactic Civil War ended).
He was more tolerant of the failures of those under his command than other Imperial officials, who were known to kill for the most minor failures. Unlike Darth Vader in particular, Harmon would not regularly terminate individuals under his command for "errors." It is not known if he executed anyone for failures, but, he hinted at doing so several times to invigorate his men even more.
Harmon was known for a supremely unique command style from all others. He did not rely on heavy intelligence to spy on his enemies, but would seriously study them and their past performances. He believed this study would somehow give him an advantage in battle, since it provided him with information on the psyche of his opponents and informed him of their mental inabilities. For examples, after gaining an alliances of sorts with the New Republic, he was able to predict the enemy's next move, and beat them to the Graveyard of Super Star Destroyers, saving it from the greedy appetite of the Resurrected Emperor.
Unlike the Emperor, Harmon had a distinct grasp of his economic situation. He preferred to use existing technologies in novel ways rather than spend billions of credits on super weapons that might or might not have worked (like the Death Star, Eye of Palpatine or even the Darksaber). Harmon turned medium-sized capital ships like Carrack cruisers and Victory-class Star Destroyers into formidable weapons. One of his greatest achievements (which he acknowledged himself) was the ability to reconstruct even the most seriously damaged Super Star Destroyers.
A major controversy of this character is his lineage. In the book Revenge of the Resurrected Emperor, he tells Kevin Rasmussen that he is the oldest son of Emperor Palpatine and he was born on Coruscant. However, in the book "The Circle is Now Complete" during his duel with Palpatine on board the Emperor's Pride, Palpatine taunts him with him being the illegitimate son of a stormtrooper. Many disregarded this as just a use of Don Moch by Palpatine.
But, during the short story, Origins of a Hero (written two years after The Jedi Warrior Trilogy he is clearly the son of Elsk and Deje Harmon, and he was born on Naboo. This threw doubts into if Palpatine was actually lying or perhaps he actually was telling some of the truth.
The true birth of Harmon is currently being worked on, and is planned to be settled in a book that is currently being worked on called: Heirs of an Empire.
