History

Abin Sur was the Green Lantern of Sector 2814 who came to Earth to stop the coming of The Centre. However, as he entered Earth's atmosphere he was fatally caught within the explosion of Flying Cloud which flooded him with the yellow spectrum. Once on Earth, Abin, knowing that he would die, passed on his power ring to the one who deserved it. The ring chose pilot Hal Jordan. After physically summoning Jordan to him, Abin revealed everything he knew as a Green Lantern to Jordan. When Jordan professed that he doesn't deserve to bear the ring as he believed himself to be a coward, Abin pointed out to him that courage comes in different forms and that Jordan deserved to bear the mantle as Green Lantern.
