Coronation Street history

• 1939 - Ken Barlow born.
• 1978 - Deirdre Langton discovers that Ray's affair is with Janice Stubbs and confronts her. Ray finds out that Deirdre knows of his dalliance when she tells him to get lost.
• 1985 - Bet Lynch sacks Jack Duckworth from the Rovers for arguing in there with Vera. Jack blames Vera for losing him the only job he's ever enjoyed.
• 1989 - Ken's relationship with Wendy Crozier deepens when she cooks him a meal for his fiftieth birthday as he thinks Deirdre has forgotten whereas she is sat at home with a surprise meal waiting for him.
• 1998 - Anne Malone tries to set up Spider Nugent on a charge of criminal damage by spraying anti-freeze on goods in the freezer storeroom at Freshcos but finds herself locked in the room for the night with no one there to come to her aid.
• 2000 - Martin Platt moves out of the Platt household and into the flat at 18a Victoria Street.
• 2005 - Les Battersby finds Father Abraham, a failed drunken priest, to marry him and Cilla Brown.
• 2006 - On the day of his wedding to Bev Unwin, Fred Elliott calls at Audrey Roberts's house to explain to her why he can't marry her instead. About to leave the house he dies suddenly of massive stroke.
