Coronation Street history

• 1977 - 13 Coronation Street briefly changes its house number to 12a.
• 1983 - Phyllis Pearce finds out her house is going to be demolished. Suzie Birchall gets a job as a barmaid at the Rovers Return Inn.
• 1987 - Sarah Louise Tilsley is born. The father, Brian Tilsley, doesn't think Sarah is his daughter, and doesn't visit his wife Gail at the hospital.
• 1996 - First appearance of Ashley Peacock.
• 1997 - Ken Barlow sleeps with Sue Jeffers, thinking that Deirdre Rachid doesn't want him back.
• 1998 - Rita Sullivan gives Leanne Tilsley a job at The Kabin.
• 2004 - Rita appears in court over hitting Chesney Brown - a minor. She is fined £500 and has to pay compensation. Rita is appalled and is held in contempt of court when she gives the megistrates a piece of her mind. She spends the night in a cell.
• 2007 - Becky Granger and her friend Slug steal Hayley Cropper's car.

Real world

• 1944 - Geoffrey Hughes born.
• 1971 - The ITV colour strike, which affected Coronation Street, is called off.
