Coronation Street history

• 1986 - Betty Turpin comes back out of retirement to work at the Rovers.
• 1995 - Raquel Wolstenhulme narrowly escapes being raped by Leo Firman.
• 1997 - Fred Elliott and Maureen Holdsworth are married. Sally Webster and Natalie Horrocks have a cat-fight in the street.
• 1999 - Ashley Peacock and Maxine Heavey have their stag and hen nights.
• 2002 - Peter Barlow meets florist Lucy Richards (First appearance of the character).
• 2003 - Martin Platt and Katy Harris announce their relationship to Katy's parents - Tommy promptly attacks Martin.
• 2004 - Todd Grimshaw discovers that his brother Jason has spent the night with Sarah Platt. Distraught at the betrayal, he leaves Weatherfield.
• 2008 - Thinking that Liz McDonald is in a relationship now with Harry Mason and that there is no chance of a reconciliation, Vernon Tomlin leaves Weatherfield (Final appearance of the character).

• 1955 - ITV goes on the air for the first time with broadcasts by Associated Rediffusion in the London area.
